The Alexander S. Onassis Foundation (Greek: Κοινωφελές Ίδρυμα Αλέξανδρος Σ. Ωνάσης) was created by Aristotle Onassis to honor the memory of his son Alexander, who died at age 24 in an airplane crash in 1973. Aristotle Onassis died in 1975, and had directed in his will that half of his estate should be transferred upon his own death to a foundation to be established in Alexander's name. In 1975, the executors of the estate accordingly established a pair of foundations, incorporated in Vaduz, Liechtenstein: the Business Foundation, which acts as a holding company for the underlying business interests, and the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, which is the sole beneficiary of the Business Foundation. The public benefit foundation is based in Athens, Greece. Aristotle's daughter, Christina Onassis, served as the first president of the foundation until her death in 1988.

Το Ίδρυμα Ωνάση (επισήμως: Κοινωφελές Ίδρυμα Αλέξανδρος Σ. Ωνάσης) είναι ένα κοινωφελές ίδρυμα, το οποίο συστάθηκε τον Δεκέμβριο του 1975 σύμφωνα με την επιθυμία του Αριστοτέλη Ωνάση στο όνομα του υιού του Αλέξανδρου Ωνάση. Το εν λόγω Ίδρυμα έχει την έδρα του στο Βαντούζ του Λίχτενσταϊν.

La fondation Onassis, initialement Fondation Alexandre Onassis, a été créée en 1975, par exécution des volontés testamentaires d’Aristote Onassis, avec une double structure, une fondation d’entreprise gérant des activités commerciales dans les secteurs maritimes, immobiliers et dans quelques autres, et une fondation caritative, exerçant principalement dans les domaines culturels, d’éducation et de santé. Disjointe de la fondation d’entreprise, la fondation caritative bénéficie des bénéfices de la première structure. Cette fondation caritative a également une filiale américaine.

Die Alexander-Onassis-Stiftung ist eine private Stiftung, die von Aristoteles Onassis im Andenken an seinen verunglückten Sohn Alexander Onassis gegründet wurde. Maßgeblich ausgebaut wurde die Stiftung von seiner Tochter Christina Onassis.
