Fatmaören Tepesi olarak bilinen bu üç yükselti, çevrenin kurak ve çorak olmasına karşın sulak bir bölgede, adeta bir vaha görünümündedir. Boyalı Höyük, Hüseyindede Höyüğü ve Fatmaören, MÖ III. binyılda Hitit Kültürü'nün çekirdek bölgesi olarak görülmektedir.
Resuloğlu, Çorum il merkezinin batı-güneybatısında, Uğurludağ ilçesinin batısında yer alan bir Erken Tunç Çağı mezarlığı ve aynı adla bilinen bir höyüktür. Mezarlık alanının güneydoğusunda, kuzeyinde ve kuzeybatısında, yüzey araştırmalarıyla saptanan ve aynı döneme tarihlenen yerleşimler bulunmaktadır. Söz konusu mezarlık, kaçak kazılarla büyük ölçüde tahrip edilmiştir.

Konum olarak Alacahöyük, Boğazköy ve Şapinuva (Ortaköy) gibi önemli Hitit merkezlerinin neredeyse geometrik ortasındadır.

Yerleşmenin bulunduğu vadi, Delice Havzası ile Kaledere dağlık bölgesi arasında uzanmaktadır. Bölge, MÖ III. binyılda Hatti Kültürü'nün çekirdek bölgesi olarak görülmektedir. Bu nedenle Boyalı Höyük kazıları bölgesel bir çalışmanın odak noktasını oluşturmaktadır. Diğer yandan Hüseyindede Höyüğü ve Fatmaören Höyüğü'ne yaklaşık 7 km. mesafededir. Üç höyük de birer Hitit yerleşmesidir.
