Çamköy Dam is a boron wastewater collection dam in Balıkesir, Turkey. Wastewater from a nearby colemanite mine is collected in the dam. The wastewater from the mine has a high boron concentration (627.36 mg/L). The amount of boron in the reservoir was found to vary, slightly, peaking in August. A study of the phytoplankton in the dam's reservoir found 44 taxa, 77% of which belonged to the Bacillariophyta.

It is a shallow nutrient-rich freshwater lake (average depth 3 m) fed by groundwater and four streams. Small deltas have formed where the latter enter the lake, comprising extensive marshes and tree-lined riverbanks. Narrow belts of reed Phragmites fringe much of the lake. Water is abstracted for factory use and for irrigation. Cattle and sheep grazing are common along the lake shores.

Balıkesir station (Turkish: Balıkesir Garı) is the main railway station in Balıkesir, Turkey. The station was built in 1912 by the Smyrna Cassaba Railway as part of their railway from Manisa to Bandırma. TCDD Taşımacılık operates four daily intercity trains, two of which terminate at Balıkesir. The stations consists of one side platform and one island platform serving two tracks. A freight yard is adjacent to the platforms, but in the mid-2010 was set to be decommissioned with the station ground to be used solely for passenger trains.

Ayvalık Islands (Latin: Hecatonnesi, Ancient Greek: Ἑκατόννησοι, romanized: Hekatonesoi), are the group of islands around Ayvalık district of Turkey in Balıkesir Province in the Northeastern Aegean Sea. There are 22 islands and numerous rocks in the group, with Cunda Island, now a peninsula, being the largest. People live only on Cunda and Lale Islands. Cunda and Lale islands are linked to Ayvalık on the mainland, by a causeway enabling transportation by car. Cunda also has a ferry link from the main town, Alibey, to Ayvalık during the summer.

A large cave located in the dam reservoir was home to 15–20,000 bats, making it the second largest such colony in the country. Because these creatures are important to the local agriculture, the pumping operation for the dam was delayed until April, 2008 when the bats ended their hibernation.

Saatli Cami ya da önceki adıyla Ayos İanni Kilisesi (Yunanca: ῞Αγιος ᾿Ιωάννης Ayios Ioannis), Ayvalık'ta yer alan bir camidir. Kesin olmamakla birlikte 1850 dolaylarında Agai İanni Kilisesi olarak inşa edilmiştir.

Karesi Türbesi, Balıkesir'de yer alan ve Karesi Beyliği'nin kurucusu olan Karesi Bey için inşa edilen bir türbedir. 1898 Balıkesir depreminde yıkılan türbe, dönemin belediye başkanı Hayrettin Bey tarafından yeniden yapılıp onarılmıştır. Türbede Karesi Bey ile beş oğlu yatmaktadır.

Bunun dışında dağda 77 tane Türkiye'ye özgü tür tespit edilmiştir. Bu türlerin 29, Kazdağı Göknarı gibi sadece bu dağda yaşar.

Artace or Artake (Ancient Greek: Ἀρτάκη) was a town of ancient Mysia, near Cyzicus. It was a Milesian colony. It was a seaport, and on the same peninsula on which Cyzicus stood, and about 40 stadia from it. in Greek mythology, Artace is mentioned as the place where the argonauts changed the stone anchor of the Argo for a larger one. Artace was burnt, together with Proconnesus, during the Ionian Revolt, in the reign of Darius I. Probably it was not rebuilt for quite some time, for Strabo in the 1st century does not mention it among the Mysian towns: but he speaks of a wooded mountain of the name, with an island of the same name near to it, the same which Pliny the Elder calls Artacaeum. In the time of Procopius (6th century), Artace had been rebuilt, and was a suburb of Cyzicus.
