Astyra (Ancient Greek: Ἀστυρα), also known as Astyrum or Astyron (Ἄστυρον), and perhaps also Andeira (Ἀνδειρα), was a small town of ancient Aeolis and of Mysia, in the Plain of Thebe, between Antandrus and Adramyttium. It had a temple of Artemis, of which the Antandrii had the superintendence. Artemis had hence the name of Astyrene or Astirene. There was a lake Sapra near Astyra, which communicated with the sea. Pausanias, from his own observations, describes a spring of black water at Astyra; the water was hot. But he places Astyra in the territory of Atarneus. There was, then, either a place in Atarneus called Astyra, with warm springs, or Pausanias has made some mistake; for there is no doubt about the position of the Astyra of Strabo and Pomponius Mela. Astyra was a deserted place, according to Pliny's authorities; he calls it Astyre. There are said to be coins of Astyra.

Pordoselene (Ancient Greek: Πορδοσελήνη) or Poroselene (Ποροσελήνη) was a town and polis (city-state) of ancient Aeolis. It was located on the chief island of the Hecatonnesi, a group of small islands lying between Lesbos and the coast of Asia Minor, which was also called Prodoselene. Strabo says that some, in order to avoid the dirty allusion presented by this name, as pordos means fart in Greek, called it Poroselene, which is the form employed by Ptolemy, Pliny the Elder, and Aelian. At a still later time the name was changed into Proselene, under which form the town appears as a bishop's see. Aristotle mentions the town in his History of Animals where it was on the extremity of a road that formed the border between an area of the island that contained weasels and another area that did not have them.
Cisthene or Kisthene (Ancient Greek: Κισθήνη) was a coastal town in ancient Aeolis, opposite Lesbos Island, in western Mysia; its mines were a source of copper. Its location is not certain, but it is generally considered to be near modern Ayvalık on the northwestern Aegean coast of Turkey.
Nasos (Ancient Greek: Νᾶσος) was a town and polis (city-state) of ancient Aeolis. The place-name "Nesos Pordoselene" (Νεσος Πορδοσελήνε) appears in the list of tributes to ancient Athens of the year 422/1 BC but there are different opinions on whether Nesos (or Nasos) and Pordoselene were a single city or if they are two different cities. On the other hand, the nickname "nasiotas" (Νασιώτας) appears in an inscription of Adramyttium dated to 319-317 BC.
Coryphas or Koryphas (Ancient Greek: Κορυφάς), also known as Coryphantis or Koryphantis (Κορυφαντίς), was one of the settlements of the Mytilenaeans, on the coast of ancient Aeolis, opposite to Lesbos, and north of Atarneus. It is evidently the same place which appears in the Tabula Peutingeriana under the name Corifanio, between Adramyttium and Elateia — which may be another name of Heraclea. Strabo mentions Coryphantis and Heraclea, and "after them, Attea." The oysters of Coryphas are mentioned by Pliny the Elder.
Hagia Triada (Greek: Ἁγία Τριάδα, Turkish: Aya Triada Kilisesi), meaning Holy Trinity, was a Greek Orthodox church in Ayvalık, Turkey.
Akoğlu Island, known in Greek as Kópanos (Κόπανος), is a Turkish islet in the Aegean Sea.
Lale Island (literally "Tulip Island", also called Dolap Island) is an Aegean Island of Turkey. In the antiquity it was called Kremydonisi (Greek: Κρεμμυδονήσι and Κρομμυδονήσι). It is part of Ayvalık ilçe (district) of Balıkesir Province at 39°20′43″N 26°41′31″E. It has two road connections; one to mainland Anatolia (towards south east) and the other to Cunda Island (towards west). The connection to mainland was constructed in 1817 (i.e., Ottoman era) by filing. Now a new bridge is under construction instead of filing. (see Gönül Bridge) The connection to Cunda Island is by a bridge constructed in 1954.
Gönül Bridge (Turkish: Gönül Köprüsü), also known as Cunda Bridge (Turkish: Cunda Köprüsü) is a 300 m (980 ft) long solid-arch bridge that crosses the Ayvalık Bay in Ayvalık, Turkey. The bridge connects mainland Anatolia to Lale Island, which in turn connects to Cunda Island via the Ayvalık Strait Bridge.

Aeolis (; Ancient Greek: Αἰολίς, romanized: Aiolís), or Aeolia (; Ancient Greek: Αἰολία, romanized: Aiolía), was an area that comprised the west and northwestern region of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), mostly along the coast, and also several offshore islands (particularly Lesbos), where the Aeolian Greek city-states were located. Aeolis incorporated the southern parts of Mysia, and is bounded by it to the north, Ionia to the south, and Lydia to the east.
Attea (Ancient Greek: Ἄττεα) was a coastal town of ancient Mysia or of Aeolis. If we follow the order of Strabo's enumeration, it lay between Heracleia and Atarneus. It has been conjectured that it is the same place which is named Attalia in the Peutinger Table. Pliny the Elder mentions an Attalia in Mysia, but he places it in the interior; and he also mentions the Attalenses as belonging to the conventus of Pergamum. It seems, then, there is some confusion in the authorities about this Attalia; and the Lydian Attalia of Stephanus of Byzantium and this Attalia of Pliny may be the same place. Also, attempts to equate the town with Attaea, a later bishopric near Ephesus, have likewise proved unsatisfactory.
Autokane (Ancient Greek: Αὐτοκάνη) or Autokana (Αὐτοκάνα) was an ancient Greek city of Aeolis located on a mountain of the same name in Asia Minor. It is attested in the third Homeric Hymn to Apollo, where it is mentioned as the name of a mountain. There was also a city with the same name through numismatic evidence consisting of coins dated to the 4th century BCE on which the inscriptions «ΑΥΤΟΚΑΝΑ» or «ΑΥΤ» appear. The site of the city is unlocated.
Heraclea or Herakleia (Ancient Greek: Ἡράκλεια), also transliterated as Heracleia, was a town of ancient Aeolis. It was opposite to Hecatonnesi. This town and the neighbouring Coryphantis are called villages of the Mytilenaeans. The town may also have carried the names Elateia, Idale, and Itale during Roman times.
