Vyssa (Greek: Βύσσα) is a former municipality in the Evros regional unit, East Macedonia and Thrace, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Orestiada, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 170.179 km2. Population 4,378 (2021). The seat of the municipality was in Nea Vyssa. It is named after a former village 4 km (2 mi) to its north that is now in Turkey. Refugees from that side fled into this area and settled into these villages.

Trígono (Greek: Τρίγωνο, [ˈtriɣono], meaning "triangle") is a former municipality in the Evros regional unit, East Macedonia and Thrace, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Orestiada, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 392.538 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Dikaia. The municipality was created in 1997 under the Capodistrian Plan. Trigono is the country's northernmost municipal unit, situated in the triangle between the rivers Evros and Ardas. It borders Bulgaria to the north and west, and Turkey to the northeast. The nearest cities are Svilengrad (Bulgaria) to the north, Edirne (Turkey) to the east, and Orestiada to the southeast. The area consists mainly of low hills, with plains in the river valleys, and higher elevations up to 400 m towards the west.

Η Βέργη, έως το 1920 γνωστή ως Σιαδαμάν, Έβρου ήταν οικισμός του Νομού Έβρου, στην περιοχή μεταξύ των σημερινών οικισμών Ζώνη και Λάδη. Καταργήθηκε διοικητικά το 1951. Επί Τουρκοκρατίας, μέχρι το 1920, ονομαζόταν Σιαδαμάν. Αρχικά ο οικισμός ανήκε στον Νομό Αδριανουπόλεως, το 1924 προσαρτήθηκε στην κοινότητα Ζώνης της Επαρχίας Ορεστιάδος στο Νομό Έβρου. Το χωριό είχε πληθυσμό 119 κατοίκους στην απογραφή του 1920, 145 το 1928 και 117 το 1940.
Η Αβδέλλα είναι οικισμός της τοπικής κοινότητας και δημοτικής ενότητας Μεταξάδων, του δήμου Διδυμοτείχου, της περιφερειακής ενότητας (τέως νομού) Έβρου, στην περιφέρεια Ανατολικής Μακεδονίας και Θράκης, σύμφωνα με το πρόγραμμα Καλλικράτης. Orfeas (Greek: Ορφέας), named after the mythical musician Orpheus, is a former municipality in the Evros regional unit, East Macedonia and Thrace, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Soufli, of which it is a municipal unit. Its land area is 643.266 km2 (248.366 sq mi). It is located in the north-central part of Evros, and borders both southeastern Bulgaria and northwestern Turkey. The seat of the municipality was in Lavara (pop. 747 in 2021). Much of the land is mountainous and forested to the west, extending up to the Rhodope regional unit. It is linked with GR-51 (Alexandroupoli – Orestiada – Edirne in Turkey and Svilengrad in Bulgaria). The town of Lávara sits on a plain. It is located SE of Svilengrad, S of Edirne, Turkey and Orestiada, and 13 km N of Soufli and 78 km N of Alexandroupoli. The municipality's next largest towns are Agriani, Mega Dereio and Amorio.

The Seyyid Ali Sultan Tekke (Greek: Τεκές Σεγίτ Αλή Σουλτάν, Turkish: Seyyit Ali Sultan Tekke), also known as the Kizil Deli Tekke, or the Roussa Tekke, or the Monastery of Roussa, is a historical Ottoman tekke near the village of Roussa, in the Evros regional unit of Western Thrace in Greece. It is an Ottoman Alevi tekke, that is a gathering place for dervishes, especially those belonging to the Bektashi order. Today it has been restored and it is occasionally operational for the local community. It is considered one of the oldest preserved tekkes in the Balkan peninsula, and a very important center for Bektashism.

The Dadia Forest is a large area of natural woodland in the Evros regional unit in northeastern Greece. The forest consists mostly of oak and pine. It is one of the most important areas in Europe for birds of prey, and the only forest in Europe where all four European species of vulture can be seen. It is a fully managed protected area of 7,290 hectares (18,000 acres) and is visited by about 35,000 people each year.

Feres railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Φερών, romanized: Sidirodromikós stathmós Ferón) is a railway station that serves the town of Feres, Evros in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Greece. Located 1.4 kilometres (0.87 mi) west of the town centre, the station opened in 1896 by the Chemins de fer Orientaux, (now part of OSE). Today Hellenic Train operates just 4 daily Regional trains to Alexandroupoli and Ormenio. The station is unstaffed however there are waiting rooms available, if open. Feres is the first stop after Alexandroupolis, as the railway heads north.

The Battle of Merhamli was part of the First Balkan War between the armies of Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire which took place on 14/27 November 1912. After a long chase throughout Western Thrace the Bulgarian troops led by General Nikola Genev and Colonel Aleksandar Tanev surrounded the 10,000-strong Kırcaali Detachment under the command of Mehmed Yaver Pasha. Attacked in the surrounding of the village Merhamli (Now Peplos in modern Greece), only a few of the Ottomans managed to cross the Maritsa River. The rest surrendered in the following day on 28 November.
The Theotokos Kosmosoteira (Greek: Θεοτόκος η Κοσμοσώτειρα, lit. 'Theotokos the World-Saviour') is a Greek Orthodox monastery in Feres, Evros Prefecture, Greece. It was built around 1152 by the sebastokrator Isaac Komnenos, a son of the Byzantine emperor Alexios I Komnenos. The monastery became the core of the settlement of Feres, but is last attested in the mid-14th century. By the 15th-century, under the Ottoman Empire, the complex was a mosque; it again became a church in 1940.
Rhodope (Greek: Ῥοδόπη) was a late Roman and early Byzantine province, situated on the northern Aegean coast. A part of the Diocese of Thrace, it extended along the Rhodope Mountains range, covering parts of modern Western Thrace (in Greece) and south-western Bulgaria. The province was headed by a governor of the rank of praeses, with Trajanopolis as the provincial capital. According to the 6th-century Synecdemus, there were six further cities in the province, Maroneia, Maximianopolis, Nicopolis, Kereopyrgos (unknown location) and Topeiros (mod. Toxotai in Greece).

The Battle of Maritsa or Battle of Chernomen (Serbian: Marička bitka / Маричка битка; Turkish: Çirmen Muharebesi, İkinci Meriç Muharebesi in tr. Second Battle of Maritsa) took place at the Maritsa River near the village of Chernomen (present-day Ormenio, Greece) on 26 September 1371 between Ottoman forces commanded by Lala Şahin Pasha and Evrenos, and Serbian forces commanded by King Vukašin Mrnjavčević and his brother Despot Jovan Uglješa.
Sırpsındığı was according to Ottoman sources, a sudden night raid by an Ottoman force led by Hacı İlbey on a Serbian contingent at the banks of the Maritsa river about 15 kilometres from the city of Adrianople. It occurred in 1364 between an expeditionary force of the Ottomans and a Serbian army that also included crusaders, led by king Louis I of Hungary, sent by the Pope. The Ottomans destroyed the Serbian army, which is why the battle was known as "sırp sındığı" (destruction of Serbs). The battle was the first attempt to throw the Ottomans from the Balkans with an allied army. There is no record of this battle in any Serbian, Hungarian, papal, or other European sources.

The Alexandroupolis–Svilengrad railway (Greek: Σιδηροδρομική γραμμή Αλεξανδρούπολης - Σβίλενγκραντ, romanized: Sidiródromos Alexandroúpolis-Svílen'nkrant) is a 178.5 kilometres (110.9 mi) long railway connecting the port of Alexandroupolis in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Greece with Svilengrad in Bulgaria, via the village of Ormenio. Despite its name, as of 2020 there is only passenger service on the section on Greek territory, between Alexandroupolis and Ormenio, as the international services to Sofia (via Svilengrad) and Istanbul ("Friendship Express") have been suspended as of 2011.
The Evrenos Bey Han, also known as the Hana of Trajanopolis (Greek: Χάνα της Τραϊανούπολης; Turkish: Kara Ilıca’daki Hanı) or just Hana is a caravanserai (han) in northern Greece, and one of the oldest Ottoman monuments in the Balkans. It was built in 1370–90 by Gazi Ahmet Evrenos and is located in the Trajanopolis Baths, just twelve kilometers to the northeast of Alexandroupolis. The monument is a long, rectangular building with external dimensions of 38.8 by 13 metres (127 ft × 43 ft).
